MCing – The art of rhythmic spoken word or poetry delivered over a beat. MCs (Master of Ceremonies) use clever wordplay, metaphors, and storytelling to engage and entertain the audience.
DJing (Turntablism) – The art of using turntables and mixers to create beats, scratches, and mixes. DJs are responsible for setting the vibe of a hip-hop event and were originally the backbone of the culture.
B-boying/B-girling - (Breakin')– A style of street dance that includes athletic moves like spins, flips, and freezes. Breakdancing reflects creativity, strength, and rhythm.
Graffiti (Art) – Visual art using spray paint and markers to create murals and street art. Graffiti serves as a form of self-expression and communication within the hip-hop community.
Knowledge – The understanding and awareness of hip-hop culture, including its history, social issues, and the values of peace, love, unity, and having fun. Knowledge ties the other elements together and preserves the culture’s authenticity
